In my child psychology class
we were told to observe one or two children and write on what psychological
concepts we observed. Our teacher
realized that we could not do pure observation so he said it was fine to interact
with them and even probe for information.
He told us to make the child anonymous to protect their privacy; that is
the reason for the fairy tale theme.
This was a way for us to show what we learned by applying it to real
life. We were given the assignment
early, and it was due at the end of the semester. I thought this was a great compilation of
major concepts in human development and learning and how they apply to real
life.
This assignment helped me
realize how to apply my knowledge in psychology to real life, including
teaching. I got to have a hand in
analyzing psychological milestones and abilities which showed me that it is
everywhere. We can learn so much if we
observe and reflect on what we learned. I think this was an excellent
assignment that allowed me to be creative and tell stories as I displayed
learned concepts.
